David Lee, 18 June 1964, Isle of Wight, England. A highly prolific remixer, producer and artist, and champion of the garage/disco revival, Lee is often labelled by the UK media as England’s answer to Masters At Work. Lee can trace his heritage back to M-D-Emm in the late 80s. He is a fanatical record collector who, during the 90s, worked extensively with DJ Andrew ‘Doc’ Livingstone, latterly as the Hedboys. Lee’s career began in the late 80s at the Republic Records label, where he was taught the art of remixing by a friend. Together with Mark Ryder, he produced a number of cuts for the same label, using production team names ranging from Quest For Excellence to Masters Of The Universe. However, he ran into trouble when he created the persona Kid Valdez of Mystique. Under that name they mixed the club hit ‘Forever Together’ as Raven Maize.
