Biography
The McReynolds Brothers, Jim (James Monroe McReynolds, 13 February 1927, Coeburn, Virginia, USA, d. 31 December 2002, Gallatin, Tennessee, USA) and Jesse (b. Jesse Lester McReynolds, 9 July 1929, Coeburn, Virginia, USA) were both born on a farm, in the Clinch Mountain region of Virginia, USA. The brothers came from a musical family; their grandfather was a noted fiddle player, who had recorded for RCA-Victor Records. The McReynolds learned to play several stringed instruments as children and as teenagers played at local dances. They made their radio debut in 1947 on WNVA Norton, by which time Jim usually played guitar and Jesse mandolin. Playing bluegrass and country material, they made their first recordings around 1951 for the small Kentucky label, but in 1952, after moving to WVLK Lexington, they joined Capitol Records.
