Biography
19 October 1960, Houston, Texas, USA. This powerful vocalist first attracted attention as lead in the Broadway show Your Arms Too Short To Box With God. She is, however, better known for her Tony Award -winning role in the musical Dreamgirls, a thinly disguised adaptation of the Supremes story, which former member Mary Wilson took as the title of her autobiography. The shows undoubted highlight was Hollidays heart-stopping rendition of And I Am Telling You Im Not Going, one of souls most emotional, passionate performances. The singles success in 1982 prompted Hollidays solo career, but subsequent work was overshadowed by that first hit. She returned to the stage in 1985 in Sing, Mahalia Sing and acted in the television series The Love Boat. Holliday was also part of the backing choir on Foreigners 1984 UK number 1 hit single, I Wanna Know What Love Is. Say You Love Me won her a second Grammy...
