Bunnett originally studied classical piano before tendonitis forced her to concentrate on the saxophone and the flute, and she rapidly became one of the finest soprano players to emerge in the 90s. Bunnett is married to trumpeter Larry Cramer, who has appeared on all her recordings since her 1988 debut for Dark Light. Remarkably strong for a first recording, In Dew Time also featured two greats of the avant garde, pianist Don Pullen and tenor saxophonist Dewey Redman. Pullen was a regular on Bunnetts albums until his untimely death in 1995, and the two recorded an exciting duet set in 1989 that demonstrated not only Pullens mastery of free jazz but Bunnetts fully-formed talent on only her second recording.
