29 April 1972, Winter Park, Florida, USA. Contemporary country singer Bonamy gravitated to the honky tonk scene through the auspices of his father, a fan of Johnny Paycheck and Merle Haggard. However, when he began to attend high school he invested much of his time in sports, at which he achieved great proficiency, while his listening tastes changed to those of Bon Jovi et al. Despite this, he maintained in an interview with Country Music People : ‘The songs are laid out the same, and what they’re saying is pretty close, too.’ However, as he surmised, ‘It’s country music I was raised on, so that’s the music I came back to.’ His first steps into the music industry also came while at college. In his first year at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, he gained a spot on local radio. However, it was not until he left academia and took a job at an Orlando gift store back in his home state that he began to take his musical ambitions...
