Jason Phillips, 27 May 1975, Yonkers, New York City, New York, USA. First rising to prominence as the premier rapper with east coast hip-hop trio, the LOX, Jadakiss launched his own solo career at the start of the new millennium. Raised in the Yonkers district of New York City, Jadakiss began participating in rhyming showdowns with other local hopefuls at the age of 12 (both on the street and during his lunch break at school). Word soon spread about Jadakiss’ talents, reaching another rapper, DMX, who in turn put him in contact with the hip-hop collective, Ruff Ryders, in 1994. It was through his association with Ruff Ryders that Jadakiss encountered Styles and Sheek Louch and formed the LOX in 1996.
