Jackie Trent

Biography

Jacqueline Trent, 6 September 1940, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England. A singer and lyricist who has achieved much of her success in collaboration with her husband, Tony Hatch. After performing in amateur productions from an early age, Trent started singing with local bands at the age of 13, and turned professional when she was 17. She toured parts of Europe and the Middle East, and played in cabaret in London, and traditional seaside shows. In the early 60s she recorded for the Oriole label before successfully auditioning for Pye Records producer Tony Hatch in 1964. Hatch had already written several successful compositions, including the theme to the television UK soap opera, Crossroads. Together, they wrote the melodic ‘Where Are You Now (My Love)’, which Trent took to number 1 in the UK chart in 1965.
