Biography

Earl Nelson, 8 September 1928, Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. Lee had an impressive success in 1965 with the dance hit "The Duck" (number 4 R&B, number 14 pop), but his presence in the R&B scene was far more ubiquitous than was indicated by that one hit. He sang lead on the Hollywood Flames' hit, "Buzz Buzz Buzz", and was part of the duo of Bob And Earl that had a hit with "Harlem Shuffle" (number 3 R&B, number 44 pop) in 1964. After "The Duck", a follow-up, "Would You Believe", did not make any of the national charts but was highly successful in regional markets across the USA. Lee had a minor success with "African Boo-Ga-Loo" in 1968 and his last chart record was "The Chicken" in 1970.
