Biography
This whimsically named Manchester, England-based trio comprises John Bramwell (vocals/guitar), Pete Jobson (bass), and Andy Hargreaves (drums). Formed in late 1999, all three members were already well established figures on the local music scene. They debuted on the citys re-established Ugly Man Records label with two 7-inch singles, Titanic/To You and 86TVs/Twist. Live showcases in Manchester and London further established their reputation, and in May 2000 they signed to Wall Of Sound offshoot We Love You. The acoustic sensibility of debut Natural History recalled the contemporary lo-fi folk stylings of Badly Drawn Boy, although Bramwells laconic vocals and smouldering attitude on tracks such as Morning Rain owed more to Ian Brown and Liam Gallagher.
