Biography
Hilary Mwelwa, Lusaka, Zambia. Hil St. Soul is the recording moniker used by London, England-based soul singer Mwelwa. She relocated to England at the age of five and in her teens based herself in the capital to study biochemistry at the University of London. She began cutting demos in the mid-90s, and made inroads into the UK soul scene as a backing vocalist for Incognito and Fierce. She teamed up with writer/producer Victor Redwood-Sawyerr of UK hip-hop unit Blak Twang to launch Hil St. Soul, and came to the attention of the music world with a fine acoustic version of Stevie Wonders Until You Come Back To Me (Thats What Im Gonna Do). Mwelwa signed with the hip Dome Records label and began sessions for Hil St. Souls debut, Soul Organic.
