Havana 3 A.M.
This rock band was formed by ex-Clash bass player Paul Simonon (15 December 1955, Brixton, London, England), and also comprised Nigel Dixon (guitar, vocals, ex-Whirlwind), Gary Myrick (guitar, vocals) and Travis Williams (drums). However, despite Simonons pedigree, the group initially found it difficult to acquire a contract in their native territory, recording and releasing their debut album in Japan before a contract with I.R.S. Records was forthcoming. However, much of the album had been inspired by Simonons adventures in the USA. Following the dissolution of the Clash, he had concentrated on oil painting in Notting Hill, London, and New York. Eventually he persuaded his friend, Dixon, to buy Harley Davidson motorbikes for a tour of North America. From El Paso in Texas they journeyed through Mexico before turning north for California.
