Travis L. Blaylock, 21 December 1934, Douglassville, Texas, USA. With a local gospel group, the Sunny South Gospel Singers, Blaylock began playing harmonica before reaching his teens. He gained experience playing in churches and over the radio and at the end of the 40s relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he started playing with blues bands. Through the following decade he appeared on numerous recording sessions, backing blues singers and by the 60s his experience was such that he was called on regularly as a sideman with front-rank bluesmen such as B.B. King, Percy Mayfield and T-Bone Walker. For several years, he worked in tandem with guitarist Hosea Levy, playing small - engagements in and around Fresno, California; fortunately, this partnership was captured on the 2000 recording Cold Tacos And Warm Beer, which displays two experienced traditional country bluesmen at their relaxed and authentic best.
