Canadian heavy rock band formed in 1987 by Harry Hess (Harold Hess, 5 July 1968, Oshawa, Ontario, Canada; vocals, keyboards, guitar), Mike Gionet (bass), Pete Lesperance (b. 13 October 1968, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada; guitar, vocals) and Darren Smith (drums, vocals). Hess and Smith had played together in Blind Vengeance prior to launching a new project with their friends Gionet and Lesperance. Chief songwriters Hess and Lesperance steered the quartet in the direction of the then popular pop metal market, with the bands demo cassette proving good enough to secure the band a recording contract with Warner Music Canada. The band released its self-titled debut album in 1991 and then went on an extensive North American promotional tour. Buoyed by the sales success of Harem Scarem, the band returned to the studio to complete a new album. Mood Swings diverted into more traditional hard rock territory but was another popular release, particularly in the Far East....
