Biography

Drummer Pete York (15 August 1942, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, England) and singing keyboard wunderkind Eddie Hardin (b. 1949, England) left the Spencer Davis Group in October 1968 to team up as ‘the smallest big band in the world’ - as a duo they certainly achieved an impressive depth of sound coupled with strong melodic emphasis on their three albums, which also reflected jazz leanings and proficient creative parameters. At their 1969 apogee, the pair could fill moderate-sized auditoriums in Europe especially Germany, but most regarded them as a reliable support to bigger acts. After participating with Hardin in a fleeting re-formation of the Davis group in 1973, York played at various continental jazz and blues festivals. In the late 80s, one of his most inspired ventures was leading bands of well-known British musicians in annual ‘Blues Reunion’ tours. Those old pals assisting him included Zoot Money, Chris Farlowe and Spencer Davis....
