One of Scandinavia’s heaviest death metal bands, this Swedish band started life as Corpse in 1986. Jorgen Sandstrom (vocals/guitar), Ola Lindgren (guitar/vocals), Jonas Torndal (bass), Jensa Paulsson (drums) made several demo recordings under their new name before attracting the attention of the Century Media label, which issued the phenomenally brutal Into The Grave in 1991. Tours in Europe and the USA saw a fanbase grow, but led to the departure of Torndal. Sandstrom switched to bass and the remaining trio consolidated their reputation with 1992’s You’ll Never See.. . An EP of rare Grave tracks, … And Here I Die... Satisfied, was recorded in 1993 and marked the end of the band’s first (and best) phase. Soulless and Hating Life were cleaner, more technical albums and appealed to followers of the late-90s trend towards melodic death metal that had seen many rawer bands forced to evolve.
