Biography
28 October 1941, Portland, Oregon, USA. It was on sets with Tim Hardin and Cyrus that Moore came to public notice. However, upon uniting with Ralph Towner, Paul McCandless, and Collin Walcott within the fluid context of Oregon that Moores bass style was best showcased. Like his co-members he revealed an easy command of classical, folk and Eastern music played with jazz overtones. Since Oregon was formed in 1970, Moores distinctive upright bass sound has distinguished each of their albums, wherein he has also been known to play viola and flute. The intermittent development of Oregon has allowed Moore the freedom to pursue a parallel career in sessions. He has also released several duet albums with vocalist Nancy King.
