Biography
Based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this US band is commonly associated with the deathcore scene, which draws on both metalcore and death metal for its sound. Formed in 2001 by Adam Cody (vocals), Dustie Waring (guitar), Ian Tuten (guitar), Sid Menon (bass/vocals), and Blake Richardson (drums), the quintet issued their demo recordings on the independent EP To Cherish A Falsity, which was credited to their original title of Gadrel. After signing a contract with the Century Media offshoot Abacus Recordings, they changed the bands name to the more manageable Glass Casket and recruited Jake Troth as a full-time replacement for Tuten. Their album debut, We Are Gathered Here Today, was released by Abacus in 2004, with its brutal deathcore assault endearing it to a youthful fanbase.
