Biography

Gabriel Corcoran, 1948, Eire. Gay Woods was originally associated, alongside her husband Terry Woods (see Gay And Terry Woods), with bands such as Sweeney’s Men and Steeleye Span whom they left in 1970. As the Woods Band the group toured throughout Europe and recorded an adventurous self-titled debut album in 1970. Afterwards they moved back to Eire and recorded several singer-songwriter albums released on Polydor Records, before returning to their original home at Mulligan Records. Their musical and personal relationship sundered at the end of the 70s, at which time Gay joined Irish progressive rock band Auto Da Fe, who also included new partner Trevor Knight. They recorded several albums and singles in the mid-80s including versions of ‘Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart’ and ‘Magic Moments’.
