Biography
14 August 1937, Rose Valley, Sasketchewan, Canada. Fjellgaard (pronounced Fell-gard) grew up on an isolated Canadian farm and learnt to play guitar through his own initiative and listening to the radio. He worked as a Canadian lumberjack for 15 years and became a country star in his homeland, performing originally under just his surname. His first UK release was gentle folk/country, highly derivative of Gordon Lightfoot. Riding On The Wind was awarded the Canadian country Single Of The Year in 1987. In 1993 Fjellgaard was presented with the Juno award for Country Male Vocalist Of The Year.
