This short-lived mid-80s UK supergroup was assembled from ex-members of Yes, Genesis, Bronz and Marillion. Featuring guitarists Steve Hackett (Stephen Richard Hackett, 12 February 1950, Pimlico, London, England) and Steve Howe (b. Stephen James Howe, 8 April 1947, Holloway, London, England), alongside vocalist Max Bacon, bass player Phil Spalding and drummer Jonathon Mover, the line-up on paper was impressive. Considering the bands pedigree, it was no surprise to find them purveying sophisticated pomp-rock, with their roots firmly embedded in the early 70s progressive scene. When The Heart Rules The Mind was a number 14 US hit in May 1986, and their self-titled album climbed to number 11. The band split up soon afterwards, following Steve Hacketts desire to re-vamp his solo career.
