Indie pop quartet from Boston, USA, formed by Hilken Mancini (vocals), Chris Tappin (vocals/guitar), Winston Braman (bass) and David Ryan (also Lemonheads; drums). The band was formed by Mancini and Tappin when they worked in a record shop; the two discovered that they had similar tastes in music and shared a lack of success with bands and boyfriends. Braman introduced himself to Mancini at a party, and the trio set about booking themselves into the Lemonheads’ rehearsal studios, whereupon Ryan decided he would like to join the band. However, he disappeared before their first show, which was performed with a stand-in drummer known as Tom The Monk. Despite a catastrophic performance, Soul Asylum’s Dave Pirner was impressed by their potential and encouraged the band, and Ryan returned after finishing touring commitments with the Lemonheads.
