Biography
Formed in Birmingham, England, in 1985, this all-female quartet comprised Maggie Dunne (5 June 1964, Solihull, West Midlands, England; vocals, keyboards, guitar), Jo Dunne (b. 12 November 1968, Birmingham, England; bass, piano), Vickie Perks (b. 9 October 1968, Birmingham, England; vocals) and Tina ONeill (b. 20 January 1969, Solihull, West Midlands, England; drums, percussion, saxophone). Their unusual name was coined after they had purchased a fuzzbox for their guitars and Maggie casually announced: Weve Got A Fuzzbox And Were Gonna Use It! The fuzzbox drone dominated their early work, particularly on such songs as XX Sex and Rules And Regulations, which displayed a raw, intense sound overladen with strong harmonies and barbed sloganeering lyrics.
