This post-rock experimental trio originally formed in 1995, while all three members (guitarist Kieran Hebden, bass player Adem Ilhan and drummer Sam Jeffers) were still attending school in Putney, London, England. While balancing school studies with jam sessions that mixed styles such as jazz, rock, funk, electronica, and dub, the trio recorded a demo, which they passed along to renowned hip-hop producer the Underdog (aka Trevor Jackson) upon a chance meeting at a local record store. It did not take long for Jackson to appreciate the demo, as he signed them immediately to his Output Recordings label. Fridges 1997 debut recording, Ceefax, was issued while all three members were still teenagers.
College was put on hold in order to pursue music full-time, resulting in further releases such as 1998s Semaphore and Sevens And Twelves (the latter of which is an 18-track compilation). For 1999s EPH, Fridge had relocated to the Go!...
