Biography
Anni-Frid Synni Lyngstad, 15 November 1945, Björkåsen, Narvik, Norway. Frida attempted to revive her career as a solo singer after the break-up of Abba in 1981, having already released two Swedish language albums in the early 70s prior to her membership of the group. She was the first of the group to make an English language solo album, 1982s Somethings Going On, which was produced by Phil Collins. Somewhat downbeat in tone (many thought it reflected the recent breakdown of the separate marriages of both Frida and Collins) it included songs by Per Gessle, later of Roxette. The most successful track, I Know Theres Something Going On reached the US Top 20 and was written by Russ Ballard who also composed the first solo hit for another ex-Abba soloist Agnetha Fältskog.
