Fred Leroy Robinson 24 February 1939, Memphis, Tennessee, USA. As ‘Fred Robertson’, he recorded with Little Walter (Jacobs) in the late 50s and by the early 60s he had become a noted guitarist in Chicago, where he recorded for the Queen Records, M-Pac/One-Der-Ful and Chess Records labels. After moving to Los Angeles around 1968, he maintained his links with producer/musician Milton Bland (aka Monk Higgins) and recorded in a jazz context for World Pacific in 1969 and as a blues and soul guitarist for Enterprise (the Stax Records subsidiary label) a few years later. He recorded as Freddy Robinson on these occasions. In 1977 he recorded for ICA, with whom he also worked as a session guitarist, writer and arranger, mostly in a soul vein. In the 80s he toured and recorded with Louis Myers.
