
Biography
The Flying Burrito Brothers initially referred to an informal group of Los Angeles, California, USA-based musicians, notably former members of the International Submarine Band (bass player Ian Dunlop and drummer Mickey Gauvin), the Remains (guitarist/vocalist Barry Tashain and keyboard player Bill Briggs), horn player Junior Markham, saxophonist Bobby Keys, Leon Russell and Jesse "Ed" Davis. The name was appropriated in 1968 by former Byrds members Gram Parsons (Ingram Cecil Connor III, 5 November 1946, Winter Haven, Florida, USA, d. 19 September 1973, Joshua Tree, California, USA; guitar/vocals) and Chris Hillman (b. 4 December 1942, Los Angeles, California, USA; guitar/vocals) for a new venture that would integrate rock and country styles.
