Biography
Formed at the end of 2000 by three of the leading talents of Edinburghs contemporary folk scene, Scottish trio Fine Friday featured Kris Drever (Orkney, Scotland; guitar/vocals), Nuala Kennedy (b. Dundalk, County Louth, Eire; flute/vocals) and Anna-Wendy Stevenson (b. Scotland; fiddle). The trio had met at the citys popular folk bar Sandy Bells, and named their band after their Friday night sessions at the club. Their 2002 debut for the Foot Stompin label was a delightful collection of traditional and original material, with fine interplay between musicians and Drevers dextrous guitar playing and soulful vocals shining through. A second collection, 2005s Mowing The Machair, built on the positive reception afforded the debut and featured some particularly fine originals. The trio subsequently disbanded to work on solo projects.
