Field Music

Genres: Pop / Rock
Decades: 2000s

Formed in Sunderland in 2004, this UK indie rock band revolves around the core trio of brothers David Brewis (guitar/vocals) and Peter Brewis (drums, ex-Futureheads), and Andrew Moore (keyboards), with a number of guest musicians also featuring on their recordings. In addition to the Futureheads, the band members had previously played with Sunderland-based outfits Electronic Eye Music and the New Tellers. Field Music made its debut in 2005 with a self-titled album, that demonstrated a quirky songwriting edge that helped distinguish the band from their indie rock peers. The following year’s rarities compilation included some early demos and reworkings of tracks from the band’s EPs. The wonderful Tones Of Town in 2007 saw the trio pushing at the boundaries of their genre while retaining their melodic edge. The band was put on hiatus following the release of the album, with David Brewis concentrating on his solo project School Of Language.
