Biography
The creation of singer-songwriter and theatre artist Dawn McCarthy (30 October 1971, Washington, USA), this unusual recording project also features her regular collaborator and fellow multi-instrumentalist Nils Frykdahl (b. Oakland, California, USA). McCarthys early recordings surfaced on two self-released albums, 1998s Fauns Fables and 1999s Early Song. The material on these releases could be loosely classified as Appalachian psych folk, with McCarthys eerie vocals weaving together lyrics that reflected her interest in Paganism and mysticism. Both albums also included strikingly different cover versions of traditional folk songs, a ruse that McCarthy would continue to pursue on later releases.
