Formed in the Romanian village of Zece Prajini by 12 Romany Gypsy musicians, this brass ensemble echoes the past through music that has been played for many generations. Among members of the band have been Rdulescu Lazar (trumpet), Costica ‘Cimai’ Trifan (trumpet), Nicusor ‘Pusac’ Cantea (trumpet), Paul Marian Bulgaru (trumpet), Ioan Ivancea (d. October 2006; clarinet), Oprica Ivancea (soprano/alto clarinet), Daniel Ivancea (alto clarinet), Constantin ‘Sulo’ Calin (tenor horn), Laurentiu Mihai Ivancea (baritone horn), Constantin ‘Pînca’ Cântea (tuba), Monel ‘Gutzel’ Trifan (tuba), percussionist Costel ‘Gisniac’ Ursu (percussion), and Nicolae Ionita (percussion).
