Eyeless In Gaza

Taking their name from Aldous Huxleys famous novel, this UK outfit is the brainchild of vocalists/musicians Martyn Bates and Peter Becker. Known for their tortured vocals and impressive arranging skills, the band established a reasonable following on the independent circuit with their 1981 debut, Photographs As Memories. Several more albums for Cherry Red Records saw them alternate between a melodramatic and meandering style that increasingly veered towards improvisation.
Bates subsequently teamed up with former Primitives bass player Steve Gullaghan in Hungry I, also working solo. Eyeless In Gaza re-formed in 1992, releasing an album titled Fabulous Library the following year as a trio comprising Bates, Becker and chanteuse Elizabeth S.
