Biography
Five-piece vocal group formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1966 comprising Emanuel (EJ) Johnson, David Banks, Joe (Jobie) Thomas, Ed (Mickey) Clanton and Bobby Green. Their career did not take off, however, until they moved to Los Angeles in the 70s, signing to United Artists Records and releasing an excellent debut album and hitting the Top 30 of the pop charts with Gloria. They subsequently signed with Roadshow (via RCA Records) and returned to the singles chart with Its You That I Need and Sunshine. They also performed the soundtrack to the film Deliver Us From Evil. In 1983, they signed for Columbia Records, releasing one album before negotiating a new contract with Prelude, for whom they issued one single, Feel Like Dancing, in 1984.
