Biography

9 February 1976, Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. This New York and California-raised folk rock artist began to turn heads on the release of his 2007 debut, the bittersweet and soul searching Ash Wednesday. At the age of 11 his musical mentor was Knack bass player, Prescott Niles who taught Perkins how to play guitar. He was the son of Psycho actor Anthony Perkins and freelance photographer Berry Berenson. While his father died of AIDS in 1992, his mother was onboard one of the hijacked planes that flew into the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001. It is claimed that the first six tracks on Perkins’ debut were written prior to his mother’s death and that the remainder of the album, from the moving centrepiece ‘Ash Wednesday’ to the hymn-like final piece ‘Good Friday’, was composed after this tragic event.
