30 July 1971, New York City, New York, USA. While still a small child Crespo went with his mother to live in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. There, his first interest was in baseball and he attended business school with the intention of becoming a team manager. Meanwhile, however, he had also shown an interest in music and while still in his teens joined the band of Willie Berrios and then went into the bands of Lenny Perez and Toño Rosario, spending over five years with the latter. In 1994 Crespo finally abandoned his formal studies in business management to take a job as lead singer with Grupo Manía, with whom he remained for three years, a period that included their big hit, Linda Es.
Signed to Sony Records, Crespo formed his own band and launched his solo career with Suavemente, which was placed at number 1 on Billboards National Hot Latin Top 40 in 1998 and was nominated for a Grammy as 1999s Best Tropical...
