Few bands nowadays can elicit such a calming effect from their music as Early Day Miners can. Coming from Bloomington, Indiana, USA (and supposedly taking their name from a vacation pamphlet taken from a town in nearby Yellowstone National Park in Montana), the band was formed during 1996 when former Ativin members Daniel Burton and Rory Leitch decided to start a new outfit together. An interesting method of writing songs was developed early on, with Burton and Leitch visualizing images from movies and pictures in their mind while constructing compositions, obviously a major catalyst for their expansive sound. Other full-time members include Joseph Brumley and Matt Lindblom, who are often joined by special guests including Dave Fischoff, Molly Kien, Maggie Polk, Kenny Childers, Pete Skafish, Tom Hoff, and Darin Gray.
