Richard Royal Baker IV, 1949, Washington, DC, USA. Raised in Florida and Richmond, Virginia, Baker has said that the nickname Duck was given to him while still a boy. He is a guitar player of incredible ability, who has not garnered the same degree of popularity as players such as Leo Kottke and Stefan Grossman. His styles range from blues and ragtime, to Celtic tunes and original compositions, making him difficult to categorize. From 1978-87, he regularly toured throughout Europe He has also appeared on the same billing as a variety of artists including the Ink Spots, the Count Basie Orchestra and Tom Paxton. In addition to his many solo recordings, Duck has made numerous instructional albums for guitar playing, as part of the Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop.
