Although they could neatly be classified in the alt pop category, this Denver, Colorado, USA-based trio also exhibit elements of 60s pop. The band formed during October 1997, when Tammy Ealom (vocals/guitar) and Darren Albert (drums) met at a local record store. Albert had recently moved to Colorado from Staten Island, New York, along with his bass player friend, Rob Greene, who signed on soon after and completed the Dressy Bessy line-up. It was not long before the trio got to work on a number of songs that Ealom had previously written, and began issuing singles straight away. By 1999, the band was signed to indie label Kindercore Records, who issued their debut, Pink Hearts Yellow Moons, the same year. The album was produced by Apples In Stereo guitarist John Hill, who also signed on as the bands lead guitarist soon after.
