This Swedish heavy metal band was the brainchild of Fredrik Nordström (5 January 1967, Sweden), who in his capacity as a producer had worked with some of the leading acts on the European death metal circuit. Gus G. (b. Kostas Karamitroudis, 12 September 1980, Thessaloniki, Greece; guitar) of Firewind, Snowy Shaw (b. Tommie Helgesson, 1969, Gothenburg, Sweden; drums), Peter Stålfors (b. 8 June 1970, Sweden; bass), and Niklas Isfeldt (b. 5 January 1966, Sweden; vocals) joined him in the original line-up of Dream Evil. Three years after its inception, the band debuted on the Century Media label with Dragonslayer, whose title reflected the fantasy-inspired lyrics on a rather dated collection. Two further recordings followed before Gus G. announced he was leaving at the end of 2004 and was replaced by Mark Black (b. Markus Fristedt, 27 November 1972, Sweden).
