Biography
1974, Clarksville, Tennessee, USA. Raised in Memphis, Wamble began playing clarinet while a high school student and for a while seriously considered a career as a classical player. A chance hearing of a Benny Goodman record that featured guitarist Charlie Christian turned him to jazz and to the guitar. Nevertheless, he took a degree course as a recording engineer at Memphis State University. Another chance encounter was hearing guitarist Russell Malone, which reignited his interest in becoming a professional musician. He switched courses and studied guitar, eventually moving to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Among his influences in his university years as teachers and/or mentors were Scott Reed, Kevin Bales and Jack Peterson and visiting musicians John Scofield and Cassandra Wilson.
