This Swiss duo scored an unlikely transatlantic hit in 1986 with the appealing The Captain Of Her Heart but had faded from view by the end of the decade. Vocalist and guitarist Kurt Maloo, a former painter and veteran of the Zurich experimental rock scene, teamed up with drummer Felix Haug (ex-Yello) in 1981 to form Ping Pong. Originally a trio, this unit enjoyed some notoriety as a live act before Maloo and Haug decided to go it alone as a duo. Renaming themselves Double, they released a number of under-performing singles before striking lucky with The Captain Of Her Heart. This lilting jazz pop ballad was markedly different from the duos previous experimental rock leanings, with a striking piano riff and Maloos deadpan vocal making the track a natural for radio play. The single became a major hit in Europe, reaching number 8 in the UK, before crossing over to American radio and completing its climb up that countrys charts...
