Dos

Biography

Formed in Los Angeles, California, USA, in 1986, Dos comprised husband and wife bass players Mike Watt (Minutemen; fIREHOSE) and Kira Roessler (ex-Black Flag). Roessler had composed material for fIREHOSE and thus much of Dos bears this group’s eclectic imprint as the two explore contrasting atmospheres and sound textures. A 1989 EP, Numero Dos, saw them tackle Billie Holiday’s ‘Don’t Explain’ and Sonic Youth’s ‘Pacific Coast Highway’, alongside two powerful, inventive instrumentals. Commitments to other projects ensured that Dos remained an occasional, but musically worthwhile, sideline.
