Biography
17 September 1933, Boston, Massachusetts, USA, d. 15 November 2003, New York City, New York, USA. Raised in Claremont, New Hampshire, Loudon was taught to sing by her mother and she learned hundreds of songs. After attending Syracuse University on a drama scholarship and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, in the mid-50s she was given a role in a comedy revue in Philadelphia. She also played clubs in Provincetown. In New York during the early 50s, she quickly established herself on the citys cabaret scene, headlining at clubs such as Ruban Bleu and Blue Angel. It was at this time that she first met Mike Nichols, who was then performing his double act with Elaine May, and pianist-arranger Norman Paris, with whom she became musically and personally close (the couple were married in 1971, but Paris died only six years later).
