Biography
10 March 1945, Tullamore, County Offaly, Eire. Sometimes referred to as Irelands Quincy Jones, Lunny is his nations most respected traditional music producer and performer. A specialist in the bouzouki and keyboards, Lunny originally worked alongside Christy Moore as co-founder of Planxty, a band more responsible than any other for making traditional Irish music relevant and engaging to contemporary musicians and audiences. Following an equally productive spell with the Bothy Band, Lunny also worked with Moore in Moving Hearts, another innovative group who combined folk with rock music to great effect. However, since that groups demise in 1984 Lunny has continued to enjoy a peripatetic existence, collaborating with musicians from almost every ethnic tradition and musical style.
