Biography
This heavy metal band with a punk attitude was formed in Los Angeles in 1984, by vocalist Dawn Crosby (5 April 1963, Maryland, USA, d. December 15 1996) and drummer Dennis Butler (b. 24 December 1960, San Diego, California, USA). Recruiting guitarists Caleb Quinn (b. 20 June 1967, Hollywood, California, USA) and Ross Robinson, along with bass player Steve Hochheiser (b. 25 September 1964, Culver City, California, USA), through small-ad columns, the line-up was complete. They signed to Roadrunner Records and debuted in 1986 with Recognize No Authority. Produced by Dana Strum it was characterized by Crosbys vitriolic vocal tirade and the heavy riffing of Quinn and Robinson. The album was not a commercial success and Hochheiser and Robinson left to form Catalepsy. The latter subsequently became one of Americas leading heavy metal producers.
