Biography
Swedens Deranged are a brutal death metal band specialising in gore and splatter-movie themes. Formed in 1991 by Per Gyllenbäck (vocals), Jean-Paul Asenov (bass), Rikard Wermén (drums), Mikael Westerdahl (guitar) and Johan Axelsson (guitar), they attracted a cult following after the release of the following years The Confessions Of A Necrophile, a demo tape that led to a one-single contract with the Japanese Obliteration label. By this time Westerdahl had left, reducing the line-up to a quartet. Another single followed for the German MMI company, and two EPs, Architects Of Perversions and Sculpture Of The Dead saw them sign with the American Repulse label. The latter, recorded in August 1995, featured stand-in bass player Mikael Bergman.
