26 January 1946, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. This versatile performer was discovered by producer Ollie McLaughlin, who also guided the careers of Del Shannon and Barbara Lewis. An accomplished drummer and clarinettist, Jackson established himself as a singer and composer with ‘Love Makes The World Go Round’, a smooth, melodic mid-tempo single which reached the US R&B Top 3 and peaked at number 11 in the US pop chart in 1966. Despite undoubted promise, Jackson was only able to secure two further chart entries when ‘Love Takes A Long Time Growing’ (1966) and ‘Ooh Baby’ (1967) only managed to scrape in at the lower regions of the charts. From thereon this musician’s career faded and Jackson now makes a living playing cocktail lounge and nightclub piano spots.
