The UKs leading Christian rock act started out as a worship band in Littlehampton, West Sussex. Martin Smith (1970; guitar/vocals), Stewart Stew Smith (b. 1968; drums) and Tim Jupp (b. 1966; keyboards) inaugurated the Cutting Edge in 1992 to play at a monthly youth club in their church. Such was the popularity of their live sets that the band began taping them for sale on their own Furious? label. By 1995 the trio had expanded to a quintet with the addition of Stuart Garrard (b. 1963; guitar) and Jon Thatcher (b. 1976; bass). The members elected to take the plunge and pursue music full-time, changing their name to Delirious? and releasing Live & In The Can. Their first studio album proper, King Of Fools, demonstrated the grassroots support the band had accrued over five years when it broke into the UK Top 20.
