Biography

1 July 1939, Pontotoc County, Mississippi, USA. Guitarist and vocalist Delaney Bramlett was one of several ‘southern’ musicians who migrated to Los Angeles, California, USA, during the mid-60s. Here he found fame as a member of the Shindogs, the house band on the successful television pop show Shindig. He left the group in 1967 and began a solo career with ‘Guess I Must Be Dreamin’’, issued on the local Independence label. The single was co-written and produced by Leon Russell. Soon after its release, Bramlett spotted Bonnie Lynn O’Farrell singing in a club. Within seven days the pair were married. As Delaney And Bonnie the couple recorded a version of ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’, before spending two years working to scant attention. In 1969 they issued Accept No Substitute, which propelled them to fame. Eric Clapton joined their group for a brief period and Delaney Bramlett reciprocated by co-composing...
