He was born into the church, becoming heavily involved with his fathers Unity Cathedral Of Faith in Detroit, Michigan as youth pastor and music director. He began his recording career with 1995s Come Into This House, released on the Tyscot label. Subsequent albums, on Tyscot and the Verity label, have developed the debuts bold eclecticism, marrying funk, R&B and hip-hop rhythms with fiery gospel vocals from both Haddon and the 13-strong Voices Of Unity. Crossroads (2004) and 7 Days (2006) paid explicit homage to contemporary R&B, and crossed over into the mainstream US charts.
