Biography
Formed in San Francisco, California, USA by fellow bandmates of goth metal outfit Nitre Pit, Greg Saunier (Maryland, USA; drums) and Rob Fisk (b. California, USA; guitar), the line-up of this experimental rock act has fluctuated since its conception in 1994. Satomi Matsuzaki (b. 9 February 1974, Tokyo, Japan; bass/vocals) joined in 1996 after hearing Fisk and Sauniers debut 7-inch single for Kill Rock Stars. By the time of the release of their second album Kelly Goode (b. California, USA; keyboards) had joined the band. Thriving on simplicity, discordance and dissonance, sections of 1999s Holdypaws held a vague resemblance to previous work by Stereolab, albeit taking a much more guitar-based abrasive post-rock stance than the influential London, England-based act.
